As the calendar pages turn ever closer toward Spring, thoughts of the sights and sounds of the Western Pennsylvania racing season start to come into view. Tri-City Raceway Park has an eye on the warmer days of the coming season with the release of their 2018 event schedule.
Tri-City, just north of Franklin, Pennsylvania unveiled an action-packed slate of racing this week that features nearly every form of oval track dirt car competing in the region. They even have a division on the 2018 schedule that has yet to turn a lap!
The action gets underway on Saturday, April 7, 2018 with “The Mudslinger.” The season opener will feature a four-division race card featuring Super Late Models, RUSH Late Models, Emods and Open Stocks. In a departure from the normal Sunday night racing at Tri-City, The Mudslinger is scheduled for a Saturday night. With no other local Saturday night tracks getting underway for another week or two, the early season Saturday presents itself with a built-in rain date of Sunday, April 8th. That said, with the weather being a bit of a gamble in early April, Tri-City will also hold both days of the following weekend to be used as rain dates if needed.
Sunday, May 13th is next up on the Tri-City agenda when they present “Modified Mania on Mother’s Day!” Nothing but open wheel modifieds will take to the track on Mother’s Day with Big-Block Modifieds, Emods, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, Econ-Mods and Vintage Modifieds making for an action-packed night of racing! In the event of rain, the show will be moved to Sunday, May 20th.
The month of June transitions from honoring our mothers to honoring our fathers as Tri-City Raceway Park presents “The Father’s Day Shootout.” The June 17th event will feature the 410 Sprints and for the first time ever at Tri-City, the RUSH Wingless Sprint Cars. Also on the card will be the long-standing traditional “Bill Emig Memorial” for the RUSH Late Model Touring Series. The rain date will be Sunday, June 24th.
Sunday, July 15th brings “The Summer Sizzler” to Tri-City. The four-division show will feature the 410 Sprints, RUSH Sprints, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds and the Open Stocks. Rain date is the following Sunday, July 22nd.
The curtain will come down on the 2018 Tri-City season with the “End of Summer Showdown.” The event will be highlighted by the RUSH Late Model Touring Series, which will be competing on the wildly popular Manufacturer’s Night! Also on the schedule to wrap up the season will be 410 Sprints, Emods and Vintage Modifieds. Sunday, September 2nd will be held open as the rain date.
With the new season just 10 weeks away, Tri-City promoter Chad Wagner is excited about what is to come. “Although we have released the schedule, there are some other exciting things in the works to be announced, once all the details are finalized. We are also excited to be able to host the Wingless RUSH sprints which are setting up to be a stellar first season!”
